10 Killed, 43 Injured in Kryvyi Rih in Russian Missile Barrage

Early in the morning of July 8th, Kryvyi Rih was targeted by the Russian military, in addition to the cities of Dnipro and Kyiv. The city was struck as part of a large-scale missile attack utilizing an array of ballistic, aeroballistic, and cruise missiles to attack medical and civilian infrastructure across the country. The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office described the immediate consequences of the strike on Kryvyi Rih on Telegram: "The enemy attack on Kryvyi Rih killed 10 residents. 31 people were injured. An industrial enterprise was damaged" (Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office). After a few hours, Oleksandr Vilkul, the Head of the Military Administration of Kryvyi Rih, offered an update on the fallout and search & rescue operations from the strike writing, "The consequences of the enemy missile attack are being eliminated. The fire has been extinguished, debris removal is underway. 10 people were killed, 6 women and 4 men. 41 people were injured, including 9 critically" (Oleksandr Vilkul).
Regional Administrator Serhii Lysak later updated the public on casualties from the cruise missile strike: "In Kryvyi Rih, the number of injured increased to 37" (Serhii Lysak). And after several hours of developing conditions, Lysak detailed the increase in casualties: "The attack in Kryvyi Rih resulted in 47 injuries, with nine in critical condition" (Serhii Lysak). Lysak offered a final update on the strike on July 8th detailing civilian casualties, especially young teens killed in the strike. Lysak wrote, "In total, 11 people died in today's attack in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. 68 victims. Among them are three 14-year-old teenagers: two girls and a boy. These are residents of the regional center, Kryvyi Rih. And also - Kryvorizka district. 28 private houses were also damaged there...In Kryvyi Rih, about 15 cars and a medical facility were damaged." As a result of the barbarous strike on Kryvyi Rih, July 9th was declared as a day of mourning in conjunction with Dnipro & Kyiv and flags were lowered to half mast in honor of those murdered in the strikes by Russia. The Dnipropetrovsk State Administration released the video below alongside the following statement: “Today in Kryvyi Rih is a day of mourning for those who died due to the mass attack of the enemy, which happened the day before. All of Dnipropetrovsk is in mourning for the victims of terror. In total, he took the lives of 11 people in the region. May their memory be bright. And condolences to relatives and friends” (Serhii Lysak).

In his morning update on July 9th, Oleksandr Vilkul announced on Telegram, “The search and rescue operation at the site of the impact was completed yesterday. Thank God, no more victims were found under the rubble. As of this morning, there are 28 wounded in city hospitals - 1 is very serious, 7 are serious, 18 are moderate, 2 are in satisfactory condition. All victims are provided with all necessary assistance” (Oleksandr Vilkul).
But the situation further developed as Vilkul offered final assessments of the situation on Telegram on July 11th: “Medics continue to provide all the necessary assistance to those injured as a result of an enemy missile strike on July 8, 29 people are in hospitals, 4 of them are in serious condition. Also, three more people sought medical care on an outpatient basis (light wounds and acubarotrauma), thus the number of victims increased to 53 people” (Oleksandr Vilkul).
As of writing, Russia has not hit Kryvyi Rih again, but has hit the neighboring regional cities Nikopol and Dnipro with civilian casualties from the airstrikes, drone attacks, and daily artillery shelling (UA Map).
