Kherson Weekly: 15-21 March 2025
A Weekly Review of War-Related Events and Information Space in & around Kherson

Photo of the Week
The War on Transportation continues. A car was hit in Komyshany on 16 March by an FPV drone strike from a newly discovered drone group, the Delta Team, active near Dnipro Delta in the Kherson Direction since 22 June 2024. Their defining feature is that they utilize photos of destroyed vehicles from the Kherson Police and other local officials in their more recent videos, allowing us to geolocate and chronolocate some of their attacks. More on them later.
Video of the Week
On 15 March, Ukrainian forces destroyed the Oleshky Bridge over the Konka River. This is important as it disrupts Russian forces’ ability to assault Ukrainian-held positions within Dachi and disrupted their ability to deploy for seemingly suicidal riverine assaults in boats near the Antonivskyi Bridge. FPV drone strikes and artillery shelling of cellars and ruins in eastern Dachi posted by Russian groups last month showed a potential Ukrainian presence in the greyzone. Perhaps Ukrainian forces seek to exploit this disruption to Russian efforts near Dachi to advance near there themselves.

The Delta Team
The Delta Team has been active in the Kherson Direction since the creation of their account around the very beginning of the Human Safari. This account fills a crucial gap. We have received many reports, photos, and videos from the Ukrainian perspective of the Russian attacks on Kherson’s westerly satellites like Komyshany, Dniprovske, and Bilozerka. Video evidence of Russian attacks on those villages is not easily found, so this marks an important “discovery.” As of writing, it would appear that Delta Team operates almost exclusively in this former blind spot, but further investigation into the unit’s creation and past whereabouts is required.
This video posted on 22 March illustrates the group’s work over the course of the last week. Skip to 1:14 to see the strike on the car depicted in the Photo of the Week.

St. Patrick’s Day Surprise: The Clover

Photos: Osvedomitell Alex
The highway overpass and interchange between Molodizhne, Inzhenerne, and Naddniprianske has been of interest to Russian milblogger Osvedomitell Alex since at least mid-February. The blogger wrote on 15 February:
Kherson. Logistics. North-East.
One of the central hubs in the enemy's logistics in the Kherson agglomeration is "clover-NW", which connects the Oleksandrivka-Snihyrivka (north), Dar'ivka-Tyahinka-Beryslav (west), Chernobaivka-Mykolaiv (east) highway, Kherson (south) is now maximally loaded, since supplies and rotation go through it.
Beginning on St. Patrick’s Day, Osvedomitell Alex posted KHABR Group footage depicting strikes on civilian transportation throughout the area.

Then on 20 & 21 March, KHABR Group released several videos of more strikes near the Clover, suggesting Russian forces are expanding their War on Transportation further north of the city. Presence of several abandoned and destroyed vehicles suggests this area may be transforming into something of a kill-zone or a so-called “road of death.” With the coastal roads all within FPV range and now the northern route into Antonivka being cut by these FPVs, Russians seem to be exerting pressure on the inhabitants to depopulate. The Russian goal of the depopulation of Antonivka serves the purpose of creating a more favorable landing zone for future riverine operations and colonizable land.

Situation Report
A major feature of casualty reports this week were residents seeking medical attention the next day or several days after bombing, MRL, and artillery shelling. Particularly, 9 more victims came forward with injuries as a result of Russia’s terrorist bombing of residential buildings along one of the main avenues, Nezalezhnosti Prospect (Independence Prospect). Among those that sought treatment for their wounds sustained in the airstrikes and shelling on 14 March were a 14-year-old girl, a 39-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman, a 50-year-old woman, a 59-year-old woman, a 67-year-old woman, a 70-year-old woman, a 42-year-old man, and a 72-year-old man.
Additionally, drone attacks on settlements to the west-southwest of Kherson city saw more civilian casualties than usual. In Bilozerka, 1 person was killed and 2 were injured on 21 March by drone attacks, while MRL shelling injured two others three days earlier. A 58-year-old man injured by shelling of the town on 14 March sought medical care this week, as well. The villages of Shyroka Balka and Tomyna Balka each saw one casualty from drone attacks, one of which targeted a cyclist. To the southwest, in the village of Stanislav, the body of a 74-year-old man killed by artillery shelling was discovered on 21 March, while drone attacks injured a couple in their forties on the same day.
A concerning development: an 83-year-old woman was killed on 15 March by a drone strike on Stepanivka, a suburb to the north of Kherson. This appears to be the first reported casualty from drone attacks on Stepanivka. This town is some 15-20 km from the Russian logistical centers of occupied Hola Prystan and Oleshky. While this was a considerable distance to fly through heavily defended and monitored airspace, an attack near Nadezhdivka on 31 October 2024 remains the deepest strike into Ukrainian territory by Russian FPVs and Mavics.

In a post showcasing a newly donated ambulance for Kherson’s rescuers, Gov. Oleksandr Prokudin offered statistics revealing the true scope of Russian criminal attacks against non-combatant medical personnel across Kherson Oblast since the start of Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion. The governor wrote:
During the full-scale invasion, almost 40 ambulances were damaged as a result of shelling and drone attacks in the region. Medical workers themselves are also becoming "targets". Two drivers, a doctor and a junior medical brother were killed, another 23 medical workers and 14 drivers of the regional "emergency" were injured.
So far in March, Russian forces have maimed or murdered 178 Ukrainian non-combatants in Kherson Raion: 21 people have been killed and another 157 civilians have been wounded by Russian attacks. Of those victims, Russian drone attacks have killed 13 and wounded 98 civilians, while miscellaneous shelling and bombing has killed 8 and wounded 59 civilians.
As of 21 March 2025, 2087 civilians have been killed or wounded by Russian aggression since 21 June 2024, in Kherson Raion. 98 civilians have been killed by shelling, while 794 have been wounded. Another 98 civilians have been killed by drones, while 1097 civilians have been injured (a total of 1195 non-combatant drone casualties).
Some updates to the numbers: five drone casualties were identified from 6 August 2024 in an attack on Zymivnyk. One casualty from 22 June was mistakenly identified as a drone casualty and changed to shelling. Another casualty wounded in a drone attack on 12 July was identified. Periodically, I revise the data to ensure accuracy of information.
